Eligibility for KLEE depends on the law programme you are applying for: ● Integrated Five-Year LL.B: Candidates who have passed or are appearing for the qualifying Higher Secondary (+2) examination or an equivalent qualification can apply. For 2026 admission, candidates must have at least 45% marks in the qualifying examination. The requirement is 42% for SEBC and differently abled candidates and 40% for SC/ST candidates. Candidates must also have completed 17 years of age by 31 December 2026. ● Three-Year LL.B: Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university or equivalent institution. A minimum of 45% aggregate marks is required, with 42% for SEBC candidates and 40% for SC/ST candidates. Candidates appearing for their final qualifying examination may also apply, subject to the applicable admission requirements. There is currently no lower age limit for the Three-Year LL.B.

The KLEE entrance examination covers four major areas: ● General English – assesses English language skills and understanding. ● General Knowledge – covers general awareness and important areas of knowledge. ● Arithmetic & Mental Ability – assesses basic mathematical ability, numerical skills, and mental ability. ● Aptitude for Legal Studies – assesses a candidate’s aptitude and skills relevant to the study of law For the 2026 KLEE, the examination is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) conducted for 2 hours, with 120 objective-type questions. Each correct answer carries 3 marks, while 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer, for a maximum of 360 marks.

No. Prior knowledge of law or previous legal education is not required to appear for KLEE. The examination is designed to assess a candidate’s aptitude and skills relevant to legal studies rather than requiring prior formal study of law. Candidates can therefore begin their preparation without having studied law previously.
